About Buccellati and Buccellati flatware

Gianmaria Buccellati is renowned as one of the world’s greatest silver and jewellery producers. One of Mario Buccellati’s five sons, he established himself in 1969 when he separated his business interest from those of his brothers. He built on the strong foundations laid by his father and created a truly international business based on exceptional quality and uniqueness of product. During the 1970s and 1980s he opened shops across Italy and more in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Monte Carlo, Paris and Los Angeles adding to the New York and Palm Beach salons established by his father. Buccellati has also licensed many fine stores throughout the world to sell their fine products - and we are proud to be one of the shops chosen.

At 74 years old, Gianmaria continues to be actively involved in the running of the business working with his wife and 3 children to continue to provide exclusive silver items to a discerning clientele.

In the mid-80s, the famous Clemanti factory became part of the Buccellati Group. Established in 1912 by the German family Wilkens di Bremen to produce fine flatware, this factory maintains the technical and cultural production techniques of traditional silver work, whilst embracing new technologies and innovations to provide original and elegant items to withstand the test of time. Today Clementi, based outside Bologna, is synonymous with the Buccellati name and is the principal producer of silver for the Group.

All flatware is hand-made from unique dies designed by and used only by Buccellati. The dies are made by hand and preserved for many years. On the rare occasions when a die needs to be replaced it is therefore possible that some minor changes will be introduced to the design. For this reason you may notice slight differences between flatware purchased 20 years ago and that purchased more recently of the same design.

As with all Italian concessions of Buccellati items, our flatware is stamped by Buccellati in the following way, according to Italian law:

(1 BO) M C 925 Gianmaria Buccellati

All hollow-handled pieces (e.g. knives) are stamped with 925 only. There is no Buccellati hallmark on these pieces.
